BEVERLY — Pauline E. (Kariores) Mazzaglia, 59, long-time companion of Guyfred D. Hickey Sr., died Wednesday afternoon, July 8, 2009 at Beverly Hospital.

Born in Salem, Pauline was the daughter of the late Christopher and Theresa K. (McKinnon) Kariores. Pauline was a graduate of Beverly High School in the Class of 1968. She had been a resident of Beverly all of her life.

Pauline was employed with the Beverly Public Schools for many years. She worked at the Cove Elementary School in the Special Education Department. Following her employment with the School Department, Pauline was employed with Appleseed's, working as a supervisor of the shoe department in the distribution center in Beverly. Pauline was an excellent bowler and had been part of the professional bowling league in Beverly and Gloucester. She enjoyed traveling to Maine to visit family. Her favorite things to do were staying home and spending time with her grandchildren. She had begun knitting and had knitted things for her family.

Surviving her in addition to her long-time companion are two children, Timothy Mazzaglia and his wife Cassie of Beverly and Amanda Mazzaglia of Beverly; two brothers, Dennis Kariores Sr. of Spokane, Wash., and David Kariores of Beverly; two sisters, Barbara Davis and her husband Scott of Beverly and Kathrine Lobao and her husband Doug of Peabody; three grandchildren, Terran, Alessia and Luca Mazzaglia; several nieces and nephews and her two dogs, Jagr and Bear. She was also the mother of the late Thomas Mazzaglia Jr. and sister of the late Christy Kariores.

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Beverly. Visiting hours at the Campbell - Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly (north Beverly location) on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Beverly. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Elliott Chambers Fire Memorial Foundation, Inc., 100 Cummings Ctr., Suite 346F, Beverly, MA 01915.
