Patricia (Norton)'s Story
Mrs. Patricia (Norton) Munroe, 86, of Beverly, beloved wife of the late Arthur J. Munroe (who passed away July 14, 2009), died peacefully on Monday, October 16, 2017, after a beautiful family reunion.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Peter J. and Phyllis L. (Osiecka) Norton. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, Class of 1948. On May 30, 1952, Pat married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Arthur J. Munroe. They shared 57 wonderful years together raising their family, traveling, and enjoying life to the fullest.
Mrs. Munroe was a longtime resident of Salem and was employed as a Comptroller at Salem Paper Company for over 25 years until the time of her retirement. Once retired, she and Arthur moved to Peachtree City, Ga., where they enjoyed family, warm weather, and an active social life. She recently returned home for her remaining years.
Pat was devoted to her faith and was an active member of St. James Church where she served as President of the Women’s Guild, and at the Immaculate Conception Church in Salem. In Peachtree City, they were members of Holy Trinity and she was a volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Her faith provided her with great strength. With an outgoing personality, and a smile on her face, Pat made friends where-ever she ventured and valued those friendships dearly. Pat was extremely active in her community and was a proud Salem Football Booster.
As a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Pat was extremely proud of her family and welcomed every opportunity to become actively involved in their ventures. She was especially fond of sporting events and followed her family to every game she could. Her growing family brought boundless delight and her greatest memories were of times spent enjoying their lives by the side of her husband whom she adored. Peace comes in knowing they will finally be reunited.
Pat is survived by her sons, Scott A. Munroe and his wife, Susan of Snellville, Ga., Jeffrey J. Munroe and his wife, Allison of Beverly; and her grandchildren, Katelyn Munroe and her partner, Randy Comans of Florida, Neal Munroe and his wife, Nicole of Georgia, Jay Munroe and his wife, Danielle of New York, and Alyssa Souza and her husband, Rodrigo of Beverly; as well as her great-grandchildren, Arthur, Elton, Sarah, Micah, and Lucas; her sister-in-law, Jacqueline Kelley of Florida; several nieces and nephews, including her God Daughter, Laurie Delande and her husband, Robert. She was the sister of the late Edward Norton and Eileen Barbrick, and sister-in-law of the late Lester Barbrick.
