Olive Elaine's Story

Olive Elaine (Doty) Churchill, formerly of Beverly, died on July 14, 2017.
She was born July 13, 1925, in Salem, Mass. to the late Carolyn (Thompson) Doty and Winthrop E. Doty. Olive was seven years old when her mother, Carolyn, died.
She graduated from Salem High School in 1942, and then graduated from Salem Hospital School of Nursing in 1946, and worked as an RN at Malden Hospital.
She married Robert Winston Churchill on September 4, 1948, and moved into a house he was building at 4 Ashton St., Beverly, MA where they raised their two sons.
The family moved to Huntington, Conn. in 1957, where Elaine worked at Griffin Hospital in Derby, Conn. The family then moved to Monroe, Conn., in 1961, and to Sudbury, Mass., in 1963. Elaine worked at Framingham Union Hospital, at the Sudbury Medical Center and at the Waltham Reservoir Nursing Home.
Elaine eventually moved to 23 Cornell Road in Beverly, MA with Robert and Gregory. She worked at Liberty Pavilion Nursing home from 1976 to 1984, and the Shorecliff Nursing Home from 1986 until 1989.
Robert died on April 14, 1988. Her son, Gregory, died in December, 1994.
She was a good-natured, caring person with a strong sense of family. She liked square dancing, good food, parties with friends, cats, and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Gordon Churchill and his wife, Lynne of Nottingham, N.H.; a brother, Boyd Doty of Florida; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Gregory Churchill and three brothers, Winthrop, Roger, and Alan Doty.
There will be a small service at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly, MA 01915, on Friday, August 11, 2017, at 12 noon. Burial will be in North Beverly Cemetery.
