Nancy J.'s Story
Nancy J. Cantley, 88, of Beverly, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2017, at Putnam Farm in Danvers. Nancy was the daughter of the late J. Clifford and Mary Gertrude (Anderson) Cantley. She was the sister of the late J. Clifford Cantley Jr.
Born and raised in Beverly, she attended Beverly High School, class of 1946. Immediately out of high school Nancy started working at Beverly Hospital. There, she worked in all capacities for more than 50 years, and was especially proud of her work in starting the Ward Secretaries program. Nancy enjoyed volunteering, she organized the Beverly Hospital Century Club dinners, Beverly high school reunions, and taught Sunday school at St. Peter’s Episcopal church for many years. Described as a social butterfly, she loved attending craft fairs and going out to eat with her many friends. She will always be remembered as the bright light in everyone's day.
Nancy is survived by her nephew, Dana Cantley of Beverly, niece, Cindy Knight and her husband, Warren of Beverly, dear friend, Terrie Dyer of Florida; cousins, Rev. John Moody of New York, Colleen Gibson of Topsfield, William Gibson of Lynn, and predeceased by her cousin, “Mimi” Anderson.
Her funeral service will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 4 Ocean Street, Beverly, Monday, May 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St, on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 1-3PM. Burial will be private.
