Michael John's Story
Mr. Michael John Grove, 35, of Chattanooga, Tenn., died Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Erlanger Healthcare Center following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Windham, Conn., he was the son of Carol Oberti Grove. He was raised and educated in Staunton, Va., and was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Staunton.
A loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, and cousin, Michael had a heart of gold. He was devoted to his mother, siblings, and family. With a generous and humble spirit, Michael always put others before himself. He enjoyed spending his time reading and was an avid Star Trek fan, spending hours watching episodes with his brother, Barry. His love extended beyond humans to include many furry companions throughout the years. He will be remembered for his witty sense of humor, his thoughtfulness, and most importantly his smile. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Michael’s positive outlook on life was contagious and he nobly fought through his cancer diagnosis. He fought valiantly and his courage will always be remembered.
Michael is survived by his mother, Carol Grove of Topsfield; his sister, Shannon Grove of North Andover; his brother, Barry Grove and his wife, Michelle of Hixson, Tenn.; his grandmother, Maybeth Oberti of Peabody, formerly of Boxford; his aunts and uncles, John and Janet Oberti of Litchfield, N.H., Anne Oberti of North Dighton, Ellen and Bill Casey of Topsfield, Pamela and David Fowler of Macungie, Pa.; and many loving extended family.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral Mass which will be held in St. Rose of Lima Church, Park Street, Topsfield, Saturday, September 9, at 10 a.m. Burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. There will be no visiting hours. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (Route 62), Danvers.
