Michael A.'s Story
Michael A. Nardella Sr, 88 passed away on Wednesday November 29th at Beverly Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Rhoda F. (Hubbard) Nardella, his beloved wife of 62 years.
Michael was born and raised in Beverly, the son of Anthony and Peppina (Carnevale) Nardella. He graduated from Beverly High School in 1948 and served in the United States Army as a sergeant during the Korean conflict.
In 1953 Mike met the love of his life, Rhoda, at Beverly Hospital and so began their 64 year love affair together. From that point on Mike was singularly focused on providing for his family. Despite long commutes back and forth to Boston, made easier by his car pool pals of over 20 years, he always had the energy to take on projects around the house, particularly ensuring that the yard was always impeccably manicured. After a successful career with State Street Bank and Century Bank, he retired and filled his time with his children and grandchildren and their many exploits in school, on the athletic fields and in college. His greatest pleasures involved holiday celebrations attended by the entire family which always included epic feasts and good red wine. He was a past member of the Italian Community Center and the Patria e Lavoro Society. Mike was a very private but proud man. He took his role as a husband, father, brother and uncle very seriously. Simply put, his passion was his family and he will be deeply missed.
In addition to his wife, Rhoda, he is survived by his five children, Michael A. Nardella Jr. and his wife, Maureen, Brian R. Nardella and his wife, Maureen, Bruce F. Nardella and his wife, Pamela, Deanna R. Berry and her husband Peter all of Beverly and Susan N. Kline and her husband Douglas of Hamilton; his grandchildren, Anthony and J Michael Nardella, Meghan and Kate Nardella, Carly and Nicki Nardella, Dylan Kline and his wife, Elizabeth, Zachary and Nora Kline, Jake and Nick Berry and one great grandchild Charlotte Kline. He was also uncle to many loved nieces and nephews. Mike is also survived by one sister, Deanna Duprey of Beverly. He was predeceased by a brother, Louis Nardella and a sister, Rose Clemenzi.
The family would also like to thank the entire staff of the Beverly Hospital Johnson Floor for their exceptional and compassionate care.
