BOXFORD - Merrill E. May, of Boxford, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly; his son, Stephen, and his wife, Loretta, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; his daughter, Teresa May, and her husband, Michael Naffah, of Salem, N.H.; his daughter, Cheryl Webster, and her husband, Pau,l of Lockport, N.Y.; his step-children, Terence O'Brien of Northborough, Stephen O'Brien of Durham, N.H., David O'Brien of Amesbury, and Sharon Fuller of Wickford, R.I.; 15 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Merrill proudly served for 25 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. While in the Air Force, Merrill took advantage of advanced educational courses offered by the military to become an electrical engineer.
Following his time in the service, he worked at Varian, in Beverly, in the Microwave Division, and in 1990, accepted a position as president of Premier Microwave Co. in Pt. Chester, N.Y., retiring in 1998.
A member of the Stoneham Coin Club, Merrill was also active for many years with the Colonial Corvair Club. He was an avid enthusiast of Corvair automobiles. He owned and maintained several, particularly his 1964 yellow convertible.
