SALEM - Mrs. Mary J. (Higgins) Wegner, 85, of Salem, beloved wife of the late Leon K. Wegner, died Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Grosvenor Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Salem, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Limerick, Maine, she was the daughter of the late James and Nora (Finnigan) Higgins. She was raised and educated in Peabody, and was a graduate of Peabody High School. Mary continued her education attending Newbury Community College.
An honorably discharged veteran, Mrs. Wegner proudly served her country as a member of the U.S. Air Force.
Mrs. Wegner had been employed by Salem Hospital as a switchboard operator for over 20 years, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.
An avid sweepstakes enthusiast, Mary won many prizes, and trips, and would share them with her family. Her family was her passion, she was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed being involved her family's many activities. She will be deeply missed.
Surviving Mary are her daughters, Noreen Henderson, of Salem, Karen Callor, and her husband, Fred, of Salem, and Mary Bohn, of Peabody; her brother, James Higgins, of Salem; her sisters, Agnes Kilduff, of Salem, Patricia Guess, of Texas, and Claire Cruddas, of Salem; her five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: At the request of the family all services will be private. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem.
