Mary V. (McKinnon)'s Story
Mrs. Mary V. (McKinnon) Brown, 88, of Peabody formerly of Everett, beloved wife of the late Walter Brown, died Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Brudnick Center for Living in Peabody.
Born in Everett, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Gertrude (Morgan) McKinnon. She was raised and educated in Everett and was a graduate of Everett High School.
Mrs. Brown had been employed with AETNA Insurance Company for over 40 years until the time of her retirement in 1995. Mary was a diligent, hardworking professional. She began as a typist and rose to the position of manager and senior underwriter. She was a woman ahead of her time; a single mother devoted to raising her son and achieving great success professionally which was not the norm in her day and age. She took immense pride in her accomplishments professionally and with the care and love she was able to provide to her family.
A longtime resident of the City of Chelsea and Everett, Mary provided support to her mother as she aged and to her second husband, Walter, as he struggled with cancer. She will be deeply missed.
Mary is survived by her son, Dennis Catanzano and his wife, Patricia of Wethersfield, Conn.; her grandchildren, Keith Catanzano and his wife, Amanda of Washington D.C. and Kimberly Catanzano and her husband, Ed Rios of El Sobrante, Calif.; her great-grandchildren, Max, Ian, Lea, Xochitl, and Meztli; several nieces and nephews including her nieces, Cheryl and Carol, with whom she spent many holidays, family occasions, and shopping trips. She was the sister of the late Roy and Helen McKinnon and Anita Cronin.
Her funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (Route 62), Danvers, Saturday, August 12, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
