Mary Goshgarian's Story
Mary Goshgarian Bonefant age 95, of Salem, died Saturday, November 18, 2017 surrounded by her family
Born and raised in Salem, daughter of Mardros Goshgarian and Haigoughi (Mootafian) and step daughter of Yesaf Chicknavorian.
She was a 1940 graduate of Salem High School, and a 1942 graduate of Marion Court Secretarial School. Mary was employed for many years with Sylvania in Salem, and left to start her family.
A lifelong resident of Salem, Mary, was a member of the North Shore AGBU, Salem Historical Society and past president of the League of Women Voters. Active in the Salem PTA for many years was instrumental in the expansion building of new schools during the 60’s and 70’s.
Mary leaves her devoted husband of 63 years, Robert and her children, Stephanie Bonefant Hooper and her husband Richard of Marlborough, and Robert Bonefant, Jr. and wife Margaret, of Topsfield., as well as the joy of her life, her four grandchildren, James Hooper of Somerville, Ryan Bonefant of Denver, Mary and Sean Bonefant of Topsfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday November 25th, at 10 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church on 385 Essex St., Salem, Mass. Burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday, November 24th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., Salem.
