Marjorie's Story

MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA, MA - Marjorie Sears, of Manchester-by the Sea, Mass., passed away quietly on February 9, 2018. Wife of the late Horace J. H. Sears. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Katherine (Hastings) Hopkins.
She grew up in Beverly Cove, and graduated from Westbrook College, Portland, Maine in 1946. Marjorie married Horace J. H. Sears in 1956, and had three children, Timothy, Stephanie, and Elisabeth. She spent much of her family life between Manchester and New Found Lake, N.H. During the last 30 years she split her time between Naples, Fla., and Manchester-by-Sea. She enjoyed the beach, skiing, golfing, traveling, and above all, socializing with family and friends. Marjorie's compassion was infectious, and her contagious smile affected everyone she encountered.
The family of Marjorie would like to sincerely thank everyone at the Lafayette, in Marblehead, for everything they did to keep Marjorie laughing and smiling. Their loving care was genuine and sincere.
Marjorie was predeceased by her husband, Horace; her son, Timothy; and her two sisters, Mary, and Connie. She leaves behind her daughter, Stephanie Babin, of Saco, Maine, with her husband, Keith Babin; her daughter, Elisabeth Sears, of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Mass.; her daughter-in-law, Kim Sears, of Concord, N.H.; her two granddaughters, Lyndsay Sears, of Concord, N.H., and Kalene Sears, of Plymouth, Rhode Island; and many nieces and nephews. Her joyful and generous spirit will be truly missed.
Her funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 62 School Street, Manchester-by-the-Sea, on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment at Beverly Farms Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, from 4 to 7 p.m. Information, directions, condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com.
