Marie C. "Ceil" (Kosinski)'s Story
Mrs. Marie Czeslawa “Ceil” (Kosinski) Eastman, peacefully entered eternal rest on September 10, 2017 at Salem Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Tytus and Victoria (Twaroska) Kosinski. Ceil was married to John Alfred “Al” Eastman on October 7, 1940 and they shared many wonderful, happy years raising two sons.
Ceil worked at the General Electric, River Works plant in Lynn until the time of her retirement residing in her Glendale St., Salem home for many years. She was an avid gardener and loved nature and animals especially the cuddly poodles that she joyfully raised.
Ceil was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Salem and she had a large and extended faith family. She began her daily rosary in 1994 at the Immaculate Conception Church and she lead in the prayerful recitation of the weekly prayers for over 20 years with a group of her parish friends. A deeply devout Catholic, she prayed for many people over the years and loved going on pilgrimages to Poland, Rome, Lourdes and Ireland with Fr. Timothy Murphy and her parish friends. She spoke fluent Polish and took immense pride in her Polish ancestry.
She loved to crochet, cross stich, creating miniatures, reading and antiquing. She enjoyed working in the St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store at the Immaculate Conception Church and working at the annual parish Autumn bazaar. Her close and wonderful friends and companions that took care of her in her elder years were Marge, Paula, Cynthia and her next-door neighbors, Carol and Judy. She loved the people at Meals on Wheels and Suburban Health Care who watched over her daily and her family greatly thanks those who assisted her in her daily routines.
Ceil is survived by her son, John Eastman; her grandson, Billy Eastman; her granddaughter, Tory Eastman, her cousin, Connie Archis, Terry Lemiesz and Tommy Lemiesz and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Kosinski and her son, Thomas Frances Eastman and his wife, Mary Louise Eastman.
Her funeral Mass will be held in the Immaculate Conception Church, Hawthorne Blvd., Salem, Monday, Sept. 18th at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hour prior to the service in the main church from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Assisting the family with the arrangements is The O’Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq., (At Salem Common) Salem. At the request of the family, please no flowers.
