Margaret's Story

DANVERS - Mrs. Margaret "Bette" E. (Tierney) Kane, 81, of South Dennis and recently Danvers, beloved wife of the late Edward H. Kane, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late John and Alice E. (Legendre) Tierney. She was raised and educated in Boston attending Saint Margaret's.
As a young woman, Margaret had been employed by State Street Bank where she met the love of her life, Edward. Together since 1955, Bette and Ed lived in Mansfield where they raised their family. Finishing her career in Foodservice Sales with Flagstaff, she always enjoyed creating a meal to be shared. A loving wife, mother and grandmother Bette enjoyed providing a warm and loving home for her family. She cherished being involved in their many activities and was most proud of their many accomplishments.
A longtime resident of the Town of South Dennis, since the early 80's, Bette loved the beach, Cold Storage was her haven. She had an artist's view of the world and was an avid painter and reader. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Surviving Margaret are her daughters; Alice Jones and her husband, Paul of Katy, Texas, Kimberley Barkyoumb of Swanton, Vt., and Elizabeth Walker and her husband, James of Danvers, her eight grandchildren, Michael Weber and his wife, Lauren and their children, Caelyn and Annaliese, Jessica Slattery and her husband, Daniel, Tyler Wetmore, Stephen Jones and his wife, Kristen, Jamie Walker and his wife Jennifer, Riley Wetmore, Michael Jones and Corey Walker; brother, Michael Tierney of West Roxbury. Margaret was one of eight children. She was predeceased by her siblings Patricia, John and Paul Tierney, Dorothy Megnia, Marie Harrington and Kathleen Maloney and their devoted spouses, many special nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: Bette's Celebration of Life will begin at the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St. (Route 62), Danvers, on Monday, February 5, 2018, at 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Pray Service commencing at 12:30 to 1 p.m. Relatives and friends invited.
