Mabel A.'s Story
Mrs. Mabel A. (MacDonald) Pappas, 89, died Sunday, October 15, 2017 in her home, surrounded by her family.
Born and raised in Beverly, she was the daughter of James and Marion (Thompson) MacDonald. She was the wife of the late Louis Pappas, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage. After graduating from St. Mary's School, Mabel went to work in the shoe factory in Beverly and that is where she met Louis. They were married in 1951 and moved to Ipswich to start their family.
Mrs. Pappas was a member of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Ipswich where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also a den mother for her son's Boy Scout troop. She enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband and family in their motor home.
Mabel lived for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was sweet, kind, gentle and a pleasure to be with.
Mrs. Pappas is survived by her three children, Peter Pappas and Kathy Sweeney, Marcia Karas and her husband, Dana, Michael Pappalimberis and his wife, Andrea, all of Ipswich. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Joseph and Nicholas Pappas, Peter Karas, and Alexandra and Ariele Pappalimberis; also survived by three sisters-in-law, Stella Galanis and Constance Markos both of Ipswich and Helen Steele of Hobe Sound, Fla., and many nieces and a nephew.
A private family service was held on October 20, 2017 from the Morris Funeral Home in Ipswich. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Pappas' name to the Greek Orthodox Church of Ipswich, P.O.
