Mrs. Belanger began her professional career with the City of Salem School System and would matriculate to working for the State of Massachusetts as an Office Administrator at the former Danvers State Hospital for many years. Later in life, she had worked as a receptionist at the City of Salem Senior Center and at the Orange County Council of Aging in Virginia, until the time of her retirement.

For many years she was the piano and organist at the Salvation Army Church, North Shore Corps, Sunday services and also played with the Army band. Music was such an important part of her life. She often created gift baskets made from sweets for others to enjoy. Lighthouses always brought her great joy and she enjoyed spending her time completing the most difficult of word search puzzles.
She was the matriarch of her family and often considered mother to many. Family was always first in her life, especially when nurturing and care taking for her grandchildren.
