Leo's Story

BYFIELD - Mr. Leo J. Rybicki Sr., 90, of Byfield, formerly of Salem, died Saturday, January 6, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late William and Anna (Dubiel) Rybicki. He was raised and educated in Salem and attended Salem Schools.
An honorably discharged veteran, Mr. Rybicki proudly served his country as a member of United States Navy during WWII where he served eight months aboard the USS Fall River and two years in the submarine service aboard the USS Requin.
Mr. Rybicki had been employed by Suffolk Downs as the Manager of Mutual Clerks for over 30 years.
A longtime resident of the City of Salem, prior to moving to Byfield, Leo enjoyed traveling a daily route between Peabody and Seabrook making many stops, visiting friends made, and meeting new people. His favorite destination was the North Shore Mall Food Court where a willing group of friends has continued to meet for many years.
Surviving Leo are his two sons, Leo Rybicki, Jr., and his wife, Michelle of Byfield and Coley Rybicki and his wife, Michele of Danvers; his six grandchildren, Alison, Kristen and Matthew Rybicki and Sydney, Eric and Dayna Rybicki; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Eric Rybicki.
ARRANGEMENTS: At Leo's request, all services will be private. Assisting the family with the arrangements is The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq. (at Salem Common), Salem.
