Lawrence R. Trefry

August 21, 1932 - January 23, 2019

Lawrence R. Trefry Beverly - Lawrence R. Trefry, 86, of Beverly, passed away Wednesday evening, January 23, 2019 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. He was the beloved husband of Norma M. (Shepard) Trefry. Born in Beverly, son of the late Earl and Catherine (Berkinshaw) Trefry. Lawrence was a graduate of Essex Technical High School in Hathorne.

Mr. Trefry had been employed as a machinist with the United Shoe Machinery Corp in Beverly for many years.

Lawrence was a lifelong resident of Beverly. He enjoyed being the coach of the Dodges Beverly Little League and the Manager of the Beverly Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corp.

In addition to his wife whom he shared 68 years of marriage, he is survived by two daughters, Catherine McGowan of Beverly and Lorna Kolozetski of Beverly; one son, James Trefry and his wife Andrea of Beverly; eight grandchildren, Melissa Ward, Justin Alphen, John Kolozetski, Sarah Diphenbach, Amy Trefry, David Kolozetski, Jill Trefry and Kinsey Trefry and eight great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, John Trefry and Norman Trefry. He was also the father of the late Richard Trefry.

His Funeral Service will be held at the Second Congregational Church, 35 Conant Street, Beverly on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 1 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lawrence’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452. Next door neighbors at 5 Herrick St. Loved Dick, he was always so kind to us and the girls. We just stopped by a couple of months ago when we saw him outside and talked with him. Wonderful man.
