Laurie Ann's Story

WOODBURY, MN - Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, to her proud parents, the late Melvin "Spike" Demit and Patricia (Flynn) Demit, of Nahant, Mass. Laurie was a devoted wife and mother. Laurie is survived by her husband of 26 years, Richard Paul Rusin, of Woodbury, Minn.; her son Daniel Richard Rusin, of Woodbury, Minn.; and daughter, Katherine Patricia Rusin, from Boston, Mass.; Laurie's mother, Patty Demit, of Nahant, Mass; siblings, Paul Edward (Maura) Demit, of Milton, Ga., and Amy Elizabeth (Alfred) Sablone, of North Reading, Mass.; four nieces and one nephew, Megan Demit, of San Francisco, Calif., Grace Demit, of Milton, Ga.; Caroline Sablone, of North Reading, Mass.; Ryan Demit, of Milton, Ga., and Lauren Sablone. of North Reading, Mass.; mother-in-law, Virginia Rusin, of Bayonne, N.J.; and sister-in-law, Gail Rusin, from Oakland, Calif.
Raised in Nahant from birth, Laurie was a graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School in Peabody, Mass., and Wellesley College, Wellesley, Mass., where she graduated cum laude. Following graduation from Wellesley College, Laurie was a trust officer with Northern Trust in Chicago, Ill. Following the completion of her husband, Rich's PhD at Northwestern University, in Chicago, Laurie and Rich moved to Woodbury, Minn., to start a family, and where Laurie and Rich raised Dan and Kate, and where Laurie lived until her death.
Laurie's funeral will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 9 a.m. from the Solimine Funeral Home, 67 Ocean Street (Route 1A), Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Nahant at 10 a.m. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nahant. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
