Kevin Francis's Story
Kevin Francis Byrne of St. Petersburg, Fla., died peacefully in his home on Tuesday, January 24, 2017.
Kevin was born on December 28, 1939, in Manhattan, N.Y. He grew up in Beverly, Mass., and lived in Magnolia, Mass., while raising his family. After more than 35 years working for Mass Electric, he retired and became a snowbird, spending his free time in both Salem, Mass., and St. Petersburg, Fla.
In his youth, Kevin enjoyed tinkering with and racing cars. In later years he enjoyed motorcycles, photography and computers. Kevin was awarded the degree of Associate in Science from North Shore Community College in 1974. Always one for a good, lengthy conversation, Kevin followed current events and politics and enjoyed discussions on a wide variety of topics.
Kevin is survived by his companion, Barbara Hawkins of St. Petersburg, Fla.; his daughter, Kathleen Schalck, his son-in-law, Peter and his granddaughter, Abigail, all of Marblehead, Mass.; his daughter, Lisa Byrne of Magnolia, Mass.; and his son, Jamie Byrne of Malden, Mass.
In keeping with Kevin's wishes, no memorial services will be held. Kevin will be laid to rest privately at a later date.
