Kendrell R.'s Story
Kendrell Roberts Gregware, Jr., 77, of Marblehead, passed away on September 16, 2017 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House with his wife of 49 years Shirley by his side, daughter Kimberly and his best friend Patches his hunting dog.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Kendrell Roberts and Virginia (Wallace) Gregware Sr.
Ken was a graduate of Marblehead High School then enlisted in the United States Army where he spent a majority of his service overseas throughout Europe. He would later graduate with his engineering degree from Northeastern University in Boston and worked as an engineer for Tektronix for 36 years.
Ken was a true outdoorsman. His favorite place to be was at his camp on Kennebago Lake in Rangeley, Maine, where he would spend fall bird hunting always with his English setters and spring fly-fishing for trout. A lifelong member of the Boston Yacht Club, he loved the challenge of fly-fishing for striper. He was also a member of the Danvers Fish and Game Club and was a competitive skeet-shooter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Gregware of Marblehead, and Kelley McDonough and her husband, Michael of Virginia; his beloved grandson, Camden Gregware; his sisters, Donna Hansen and her husband, Bob, and Virginia Brings, all of Marblehead; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Diane Brown.
