Julian's Story

Julian H. Lynch, age 80, passed on Saturday, December 30, 2017 peacefully at his home. Julian was the loving and devoted husband of Claire Riley Lynch and the son of the late Thomas H. and Emeline M. Kelly of Stoneham and brother-in-law of the late Donna Riley Martel.
Julian was born in Medford, February 21, 1937, attended St. Mary School in Winchester and Matignon High School in Cambridge. He went on to the University of Mississippi on a football scholarship. He returned home after a football injury and attended Merrimack College and became a member of the USMC, ROTC and was a Marine Corp Reservist while at Merrimack. In 1957 Julian was drafted into the US Army and served until 1959 achieving the rank of Spec. 4, stationed at Fort Dix, NJ. After the service Julian attended Bentley College completing accounting courses.
In 1960, Julian began a long and successful 32 year career with Volkswagen of America, New England Division. He started in the parts department a moved along though many managerial positions with Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche retiring as a New England Regional District Manager. Julian was well known and respected through the Volkswagen organization both in the US and Germany.
After retirement Julian was a volunteer at the Beverly Hospital, a Terminal Manager at Logan Airport (prior to 9/11) and had a great time as a limo driver for a short period of time. Julian was a people person and had a good time at these jobs interacting with people.
Julian was an avid golfer and long-time member of Bass Rocks Golf Club in Gloucester where he had many friends and golf buddies.
Julian was a communicant and active member at St. Margaret Parish in Beverly Farms.

Julian is survived by his nephews and niece, John T. and Anne Graham of Brockton, Patricia A. Murphy of Bradford, Patrick A. and Kerry Martel of Wesley Chapel, FL, Jennifer and Paul Coughlin of Westfield, Joshua and Heather Graham of Morrison, TN; grandnephew and nieces Meghan and Emily Martel of Wesley Chapel, FL, Colin P. Murphy of Bradford. Also his extended family of Michelle and Ralph Dowling of Stoneham, Corinne and Terry Jann of Westford, Janice McNeill of Medway, Kenneth and Loren Micciche of Dedham and David Micciche of Manchester, NH. Also survived by numerous cousins and long-time friends.
Arrangements: His funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret's Parish, 672 Hale Street, Beverly Farms, Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Visitation will held at the church prior to the Mass on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Internment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Julian's memory to St. Margaret Parish, 672 Hale Street, Beverly Farms, MA, 01915 or St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
