Judith F.'s Story
Judith F. Wentworth (Hinckley), 73, of Amesbury, passed away this past Thursday, September 13, 2017, at Maplewood Center for nursing.
Judith was born in Boston on February 13, 1944, to the late William K. Hinckley Sr. and Florence F. Andrews of Manchester-by-the-Sea. She survived both her sister, Joan Gelin of Vista, Calif., and her brother, William K. Hinckley, Jr., who perished on the U.S.S. Forestal in the Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnam. To those who knew her, "Judy" spent her youth growing up in Manchester and graduated from Manchester High School in 1962. She later married and raised two sons in the town of Hamilton. Judy also adopted a daughter that she cared for. She spent her later years with her devoted partner, Thomas A. Chanonhouse of Georgetown. Judy was devote in her Christian faith and would often be found reading the Bible and engaging in Bible study. An avid reader, she usually had "her nose stuck in a book." Judy also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, cooking and miscellaneous craft projects. She was also a staunch supporter of veterans affairs and was a member of the VFW in Manchester by the Sea. Judith is survived by her sons, Kenneth H. Wentworth and his wife, Fran of Ipswich, Thomas A. Wentworth of Georgetown, and her adopted daughter, Joan Devaney and her husband, Steve, residing in the state of Arkansas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jacquelyn M. Wentworth, Colleen E. Wentworth, Kelly C. O'Connell and Mackinley W. Deveney.
At the request of the family, Judith's services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Conte - Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown. www.cgfuneralhomegeorgetown.com.
