Born in Beverly to the late Evelyn (Gatchell) and Herbert Stickens, she lived her entire life in Beverly. After high school she worked at the United Shoe and Machinery, Corp. in Beverly. After raising her four children, she became a companion for the elderly and, during elections, was the warden for Ward 6. She loved her grandchildren, her great-grandchild, her dogs, spending time at her camp in Maine, trips to Foxwoods, and a good game of Kings in the Corner. She had a devoted group of friends with whom she played in the Beverly Farms Women’s Golf League, Bowling League, and softball team. Each 4th of July they would enter a float in the Beverly Farms Horribles Parade. As a devoted member of St. Peter’s Church, Beverly she sang in the choir and was involved in various outreach programs.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, William Creesy, also of Beverly, as well as her four children, William Creesy and partner Mary Lyness of Swampscott, daughter, Brenda Soares and husband, David of Atkinson, N.H., daughter Barbara Alexander and husband, James of Rowley and daughter Wendy Gannon and husband, Kevin of Beverly, with whom she lived for the past 14 years. She will be greatly missed by her seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Joyce also leaves her sister, Elaine McIntyre and husband Daniel, of Troy, N.Y.
