John P.'s Story
John P. "Jack" Coles Jr., 71, passed on August 29, 2017. Born and raised in Nahant, Mass., Jack graduated from Lynn Classical in 1966. He served in the United States Navy as a member of the submarine service on the Submarine USS Greenling and on the USS Observation Island. Jack was honorably discharged from the Navy.
Jack was a Terminal Operator for Shell Oil in Waltham for many years and he worked for the Town of Natant Public Works Dept.
Jack and his wife, Janice Coles married for 50 yrs resided in Beverly. He enjoyed road trips, watching the Bruins and Patriots, casinos, movies, walking, eating at favorite restaurants and enjoying retirement. Jack had a passion for classic cars, boats and planes. Jack loved animals and spending time with their "Grand Dog" Bubba which brought Jack much joy. Jack enjoyed relaxing by the duck pond watching his "Grand ducks" swim. Jack always enjoyed being with his grandchildren and teasing them.
He leaves his children; son, Jared V. Coles and Stacey Coles of New Hampshire; son, John P. Coles III of Kentucky; daughter, Janel Tragakis and William Tragakis of Hampden, Mass.; daughter, Jennifer Coles and fiance George Glidden of Beverly and daughter, Janice Coles of Beverly.
Jack was adored by his 11 grandchildren (six granddaughters, Jaclyn, Alexa, Avery, Jillian, Abby and Reese and five grandsons, Jacob, Taylor, Brandon, Jared and John) one great-granddaughter, Reagan.
He was the son of the late John P. and Susan D. Coles.
