John M.'s Story
Mr. John M. Carbone, 92, of Salem, beloved husband of the late Irene E. (Guy) Carbone, died peacefully, Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers with his loving daughter at his side.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Peter and Margaret (Lettich) Carbone. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School.
Mr. Carbone was employed as a foreman at Travel Leather Company of Peabody for many years. In later years, during his retirement, John served his community as a Crossing Guard for the City of Salem; his quick smile and fun loving personality made him a favorite.
A loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, John enjoyed spending time with his family, especially doting on his grandchildren. He enjoyed their many activities, their accomplishments and just having fun. His warmth, devotion and smile will be greatly missed.
An avid golfer, John was a member of the AOH Division 18 and Beverly Golf & Tennis Club golf leagues, a member of the Salem Moose Lodge #218, and was enthusiastic about his bowling.
John is survived by his loving daughter, Joann Bezzati and her husband, John of Salem; seven grandchildren, John Carbone III, Donald Tracchia, Christine Moscato, Deanna Ruiz, John Bezzati III, Justin Bezzati and Deneige Smith; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; his sisters, Marie O’Hara and Louise Casey; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late John Carbone Jr. and Margaret Tracchia, and brother of the late Joseph, Mark, Peter, and Robert Carbone, Marjorie Haefner and Lucille McInnis.
His funeral service will be held in The O’Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq. (on Salem Common), Salem, Wednesday, May 17, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
