John F.'s Story
John Francis Shaw Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Salem Willows on Wednesday surrounded by his loving family. Born in Washington D.C. on May 25, 1925 to John Francis Shaw Sr. and Carolyn (Calleo) Ray Hagner Shaw, Mr. Shaw owned and operated a jewelry store in the capitol for many years before retiring to Salem, the hometown of his wife, Ann Fallon Shaw. The couple recently celebrated their 64th anniversary. He enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing, but above all he was devoted to his family. Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by his daughter, Dr. Leslie Shaw (John Cross) of Brunswick, Maine. In addition to his wife, he leaves four children, Julie Shaw Lutts (Timothy) of Salem, Dr. Jennifer Lynn Shaw (Dr. Scott Tromanhauser) of Belmont, Mark Charles Shaw (Donna Payne Shaw) of Boyds, Md., and Dr. John Henry Shaw (Carol Arntsen Shaw) of Manchester-by-the-Sea. He was blessed with 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held at Tabernacle Church, Saturday, September 23, at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Plummer Youth Promise, 37 Winter Island Rd, Salem.
