John F. C.'s Story

John F.C. Waitt Jr., 82, formerly of Manchester-by-the-Sea, died on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at the Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield. He was the beloved husband of Toby M. (Wykes) Waitt.
Born in Salem on August 14, 1935, he was the son of the late John F.C. Waitt Sr. and Muriel (Evans) Waitt. He was a graduate of Beverly High School, Class of 1953, where he was the captain of the basketball team in his senior year. He had also attended Wilbraham Academy, Boston University, Northeastern University and Springfield College. He had also served in the U. S. Army Reserve.
John was employed as a liquor and wine sales representative for the former Charles Gilman Company for 34 years before his retirement in 2002.
John’s passion was fishing, golfing and coaching little league in Danvers, Manchester-by-the-Sea and Hamilton. He especially loved coaching Shawn’s basketball team for the Beverly Rec. Dept.
In addition to his wife of 38 years, he is survived by his daughter, Shawna Dos Santos and her husband, Michael of Ipswich; three sons, J.J. Waitt, III of Beverly, James Glazier Waitt and his wife, Shanna of Centennial, Colo., and Joby Feccia of Barre, Vt.; seven grandchildren, Mady and Cam Waitt, Jack, Destini and Kylie Rose Feccia and Mason and Michaela Dos Santos; and special dog companions, Tyson, Sammy and Brady.
His funeral service will be held on Monday, November 27, in the First Parish Church in Beverly, Unitarian, 225 Cabot St., Beverly, on Monday, November 27, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be privately held in North Beverly Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Care Dimensions Hospice, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923; or to the Beverly Recreation Dept., 55 Ober St., Beverly, MA 01915.
