Jean M. (Garvey)'s Story
Jean M. (Garvey) Buckley, age 90 years, of South Hamilton, formerly of Northborough, passed away Monday evening, June 5, 2017 at her late residence. She was the beloved wife of Paul H. Buckley.
Born in Worcester, dear daughter of the late Francis and Marion (Parker) Garvey. She was raised and educated in Worcester and was a graduate of South High School.
Jean worked for many years at the Hamilton Public Library as a librarian. She also served as a trustee of the Hamilton-Wenham Library from 2009 to 2012, and participated in numerous community activities in Hamilton and Wenham.
An accomplished artist, Jean touched the lives of many with her portraits of family members. Jean was a member of The Beverly Guild of Artists and supervised exhibitions at the library. She was active in the Salem branch of the Royal Country Dance Society, and she and her husband, traveled widely in Europe and the British Isles.
In addition to her husband with whom she shared 70 years of marriage, she is survived by three children, Breeda Garmil of Haverhill, John Buckley of Malden and Dale Buckley of Middleton; nine grandchildren, Adam, Tara, Andrew, Jennifer, Sonia, Colin, Craig, Brendan, and Ryan, and nine great-grandchildren, Tianna, Angelice, J.P., Hannah, Vanessa, Jason, Nathan, Noah and Fiona. She was also the mother of the late Dina Buckley and sister of the late Robert Garvey.
Jean’s Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of St. Paul, 50 Union Street, South Hamilton on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will be private. Visiting hours at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly on Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 1 to 4 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Acord Food Pantry in Hamilton.
