Jean T. (Cody) Lavoie

December 18, 1929 - October 07, 2018

Salem - Jean T(Cody) Lavoie, age 88, loving wife of the late Gerard J. Lavoie, passed away on Sunday morning, October 7, 2018 at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln. Born in Revere, Jean was the daughter of the late Michael and Julia (Cooney) Cody. Jean was a graduate of Revere High School. She started her career with New England Telephone working as an operator, until she started her family. After a few years of marriage, Jean and her husband moved their family to Salem where she lived until her passing.
When she arrived in Salem, she went to work for Sylvania for 32 years, retiring in 1993. In her retirement she enjoyed traveling with her Husband. Jean lived her life for her family, they were the most important part of her life. Jean was a nurturer in her own very special way. Her family, friends, all her children, grand and great grandchildren felt that special love and acceptance in her presence. She was an incredible cook and enjoyed cooking for all of us. When her grandchildren and then great grandchildren started to arrive, they became her greatest source of joy. She was the best babysitter ever. Her moto in life was “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all”! And that’s how she lived her life. Jean was a devoted Patriots fan. She also loved sitting in her sunporch enjoying her flowers and watching the antics of the birds at her feeders and birdbath.
Surviving Jean are her children, Michele FitzGerald, Leanne Morin and her husband Mark, Gregg Lavoie and his partner Lesa Cozzie, Elise L. Pydynkowski and her husband Kevin, Gary Lavoie and his wife Ann Marie; her grandchildren, Eric Fitzgerald and his wife Jacqueline, Teresa Ricardo and her husband Paul, Krista and Justine Morin, Nicole Marino and her husband Justin, Erica Lavoie, Kara, Kyle and Taryn Pydynkowski, Casey and Brandi Lavoie, Mary McCarthy her daughter-in-law; her great grandchildren, Anna Ricardo, Jenna and Troy Marino and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Ray FitzGerald. Jean was the youngest of 7 brothers and 1 sister.
Her Funeral Service will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, corner of North St, Salem on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be held privately.
