Jean B.'s Story

Jean B. Demers age 81, of Middleton, Mass. and vacation homes in Isle of Capri, Naples Fla. and Harrison, Maine, passed on November 6, 2017.
Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of John Henry and Emma (Landry) Lucier.
She married John H Demers Jr. and they made their home in Middleton where she had four children, Barbara Demers (Middleton), Patricia Demers (deceased), Linda (Demers) Klein (and Paul Klein) of Mexico, Maine and John Demers III (deceased). She has four wonderful grandchildren John, Stephen, Susan (deceased), and Sarah. Jean had three brothers. John (and Alice) of Lynn, Peter (and Barbara) of Barton Vt., and Paul (deceased) (and Roberta) Lucier of Middleton. Also leaving her in-laws, Roland and Carole Demers of Topsfield, Janice (Demers) and Russel Rougier of Newton Junction, N.H., and Paul and Charlene (Demers) Kolodziej. Survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jean attended St. Mary’s School and went to work as a typesetter and proofreader for local newspapers in Lynn and Boston, spending most of her career at the Salem Evening News and ending with the Cricket Press in Manchester.
She loved traveling the country, spending time with family, and exploring the ocean. She loved life and did most everything including dancing, horseback riding, reading, bingo, board and card games, creating arts of all forms, teaching ceramics, water and snow skiing, motorcycling, boating, fishing, walking, country music, animals, slots, and Mahjong.
Jean was active in many organizations, including the Girl Scouts, the American Legion, the Moose Club, and the Lion’s Club. Jean worked in the family restaurant called Henry’s Restaurant in Lynn.
Visitation on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Mackey Funeral Home, 128 S. Main St., Rt. 114, Middleton, with a memorial service to follow at 11am in the Funeral Home. Burial at Oakdale Cemetery. To leave a condolence visit www.mackeyfuneralhome.com.
