PEARLAND, TX - Janice (Hennessey) Dow, 81, passed away peacefully at her home on January 10, 2018. She was the wife of the late Ernest Dow with whom she shared 34 years of marriage.
Born in Salem, Mass., on June 30, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Rose (Ginsberg) Hennessey. She was raised in Beverly, Mass., and after completing high school, attended the Chandler School for Women in Boston. Upon graduation, Janice began her career in the secretarial field, where she met her future husband, Ernest. Once married, they moved to Maine and started their family. In 1971, they moved to Duxbury, Mass., and then in 1981, moved to Columbus, Ohio, where Janice began working for The Ohio State University. After 24 years of loyal service, she retired. In 2008, Janice opted for a warmer climate and moved to Pearland, Texas. Janice loved the outdoors and was very active and enjoyed many sports. She also was an avid protector of those who were less fortunate, and donated monies to several charities hoping to make a difference in the lives of many.
She is survived by her three children, Stephen C. Dow and his wife, Constance L., Jonathan Dow and Erin Balaz; grandson, Ryan Balaz and his wife, Kelly Prem Balaz; granddaughter, Emily Balaz; brother, Paul Hennessy; sister, Ellen and her husband, Mike Raffa; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by several aunts and uncles.
Her funeral Mass will be held on Thursday in St. John the Evangelist Church, 111 New Balch St., Beverly, at 12:30 p.m. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday in the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly from 3 to 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
