PEABODY - Jane Elizabeth Harris, 78, of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Monday March 5 while on vacation in Cancun, Mexico. She was the devoted wife of Donald Harris with whom he shared over 54 years of marriage.
Born in Norwich, CT on December 17, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Edward Konka and Stephanie De Graw and her stepfather, Leo J. De Graw. She was raised in Peabody, she continued her education at the University of Connecticut where she received her bachelor's degree in Education and received her Master's Degree in Education from Salem State College in 1964.
She was employed as a teacher at the Shore Country Day School in Beverly before her retirement years ago. She was very active in St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody and was the Co-Founder and manager of the thrift store.
She enjoyed gardening, dancing, and traveling and will be dearly missed by one and all.
Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Derek and Deborah Harris of Tewksbury, her daughter and son-in-law, Laurel and her husband Christian Shepard of Port Jervis, NY and by her loving grandchildren, Rachel and Lindsay Harris and Laurel and Dillion Shepard.
ARRANGMENTS: Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. John The Baptist Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invite to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton.
