James P. McGilloway
McGilloway who died on March 14, 2019. Born in Boston on August 14, 1930, he was the son of the late John and Sarah A. (McGonigle) McGilloway. He was a graduate of Dorchester High School 1948 and has resided in Beverly since 1962. A veteran of the Korean War, he proudly served as Radio Communications Operator, with a Rank of Corporal in the U.S. Army. Jim received the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and Bronze Star while in Korea, and was honorably discharged in 1953. Jim was employed as a typesetter at Addison-Wesley Publishing for many years
before his retirement in 1997. He was also once employed as a typesetter for the Boston Globe and Salem News. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Beverly Golf & Tennis Club and enjoyed working in his yard and his many trips to Foxwoods. He was also an avid New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins fan. He was very proud of his Irish heritage.
He is survived by his two sons, Jim McGilloway and his wife, Diane Middendorf of Boxford and Jack McGilloway and his wife, Tina (Abate) of Beverly; two daughters, Brenda White and her husband, Richard of Windham, NH and Susan Sokol and her husband, Stefan of Tewksbury; seven grandchildren, Kristen Marroncelli and her husband, David, Heather Mandel and her husband, David, Sean McGilloway, Ashley Campbell and her husband, Eric, Sarah McGilloway, Alec Sokol and Kevin Middendorf and his wife, Renee; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Sally LaRusso and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by four brothers, Johnny, Hugh, Danny and Edward McGilloway and four sisters, Rita Kelly, Margaret Fitch, Mary McCarey and Ann Higgins.
Visiting hours will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, Sunday April 28th from 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the National Alzheimer's Foundation at "alzfdn.org". Information, directions, condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com.
