Danvers, MA - James Monroe, 60, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 3, 2019. A graduate of Beverly High School, class of 1976. James was an avid hiker and outdoorsman. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He especially loved hikes with his young grandson. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Cynthia Garrett, his daughter Kerry Monroe and his two grandchildren, Taylor and McKenna Hurley, all of Danvers, his mother-in-law Mary Garrett of Beverly. He also leaves four sisters, Julia Coffin of Gloucester, Jennifer Monroe of Beverly, Bethany Johnson of Hamilton, Jane Corsen of North Carolina as well as many nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by his brother William Monroe, his mother, Joan (Semons) Monroe and his father Robert Monroe. Memorial Services will be private.
