Howard E.'s Story
Howard E. Gard, 85 years young, of North Fort Myers, Fla., and formerly of Peabody, passed away on Thursday, September 28. Howie is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Bette) Gard, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Lynn, he was the son of Percy and Ann (Butler) Gard. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and then worked for many years for the City of Peabody. Upon retirement he moved to North Fort Myers, Fla., where he enjoyed traveling, golfing, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
Howie was the loving father to Patricia and Richard Barile of Revere, Robert and Sharon Gard of Lynnfield, and Glen and Cheryl Gard of Salem. He was the cherished grandfather to Alyssa, Erin, Evan, Glen Jr., and Sean Gard. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mona Gard of Lynn, along with many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street in Peabody, on Thursday, October 19, from 4 to 8 p.m. to which family and friends are invited.
