Hope L. (Damory)'s Story
Mrs. Hope L. (Damory) Nerden, born June 14, 1924, departed this life on April 4, 2017.
The loving wife of 72 years to Frank A. Nerden passed away peacefully while comforted by her loving family. Hope and Frank were residents of Danvers for 65 years, living at the same address. Their home was a gathering place for friends and family because of the warmth, love, compassion and friendship which she and Frank always provided. She will be deeply missed, but we all are the richer for having had Hope in our lives.
Hope was the eldest of three daughters of Charles and Marguerite Damory of Saugus, and Hope was predeceased by both of her sisters, Katherine and Charlotte. She was the loving mother of seven children, Timothy Nerden and his wife, Kathleen, Katherine Romig and her husband, Dean, the late Dennis Nerden, Michael Nerden and his wife, Susan, Kevin Nerden and his wife, Cynthia, Jamie Nerden and his fiancée, Dawn Darling, and Teresa Griffin and her husband, John. She was the grandmother of eight, the late Timothy Nerden, Jr., Robert Nerden, Jennifer (Romig) Woods, Melissa (Romig) Leeds, Sara (Nerden) Strait, Shawn Nerden, Lauren Griffin, and Maggie Griffin; and the great-grandmother of seven. She was loved by her many nieces and nephews, and by so many dear friends.
She was a beacon of hope, an inspiration to all who knew her, and a fine example of the good in this world.
Her funeral service will be held in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St. (Route 62), Danvers, Friday, April 7, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours Thursday, April 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Hope's memory to Operation Troops Support (a 501c3 organization), 16 Trinity St., Danvers, MA 01923, c/o Dick and Christine Moody. Their work was very close to Hope and Frank's hearts, having spent many hours preparing and packaging necessary items for our troops overseas.
