Mrs. Helen (Kokoreas) Arvanites, 92, of Danvers, beloved wife of the late Louis Arvanites Jr, died Friday, January 12, at Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Sophia (Bouras) Kokoreas. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School class of 1942.
A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, her family was most important to her. Helen delighted in providing a warm and loving home for her family and took every opportunity to be involved in their many activities. She was extremely proud of their many accomplishments and milestones and will be deeply missed.
A longtime resident of the town of Danvers, Helen was an active member of the Danvers Senior Center and a devoted member of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church of Ipswich.
Surviving Helen are her daughter, Nicki McGrath and her husband Richard of Secaucus, NJ; her two grandsons, Sean McGrath of Phoenix, AZ and Navy Lieutenant Matthew McGrath of Carlsbad, CA; her beloved niece Marilyn Couris; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Lou W. Arvanites and sister of the late Louis Kokoreas, Mary Nakis, Ruth Couris and Stella Peach.
Visiting hours will be held in the Peterson O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St. (Rte. 62), Danvers, on Wednesday, January 17, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., followed by her funeral mass at the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 8 Lafayette Road, Ipswich, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends invited.
