Harriet J. (Andrews)'s Story
Mrs. Harriet Jane (Andrews) Eaton, 71, of Salem, died Monday, November 13, 2017 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by her family.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Ruth (Bohanon) Andrews. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School. She continued her education at North Shore Community College.
Mrs. Eaton began her professional career with the New England Telephone Company as a switch board operator. She had also been employed as a Pharmacy Technician and most recently had been employed as a home health aide for many years.
A loving, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Harriet enjoyed spending her time playing board games and cards. She was known affectionately as the Queen of Rummy 500 and always seemed to win at every hand played. Harriet was a selfless person who always put others needs ahead of her own. She was a loving care giver in the truest sense of the word. If you were in need Harriet was there to lend a hand. She was a guardian angel to so many people throughout her life.
Above all else family always came first to Harriet. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was dedicated to her family and will be deeply missed.
Harriet is survived by her children, Laura Orlando and her husband, John of Seabrook, N.H., Kathleen Fernandez and her husband, Max of Peabody, Gilbert Eaton Jr and his fiancee, Kendra Carson of Salem and Eric Santos and his husband, Travis Anthony of Peabody, his seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one on the way, her sisters, Marilyn Collins of Groveland, Janet Tavares of N.H., Nancy Reyes and her husband, Hector of Peabody, her brothers, Harold Andrews and his wife, Sue of Peabody, Donald Andrews and his wife, Liz of Ipswich, David Andrews and his wife, Donna of Beverly, several nieces and nephews and his sister-in-law, Pamela Bohanon of Beverly. She was the sister of the late Roger Bohanon and Ruthie Sygowski.
Her funeral services are private. Assisting the family with the arrangements is The O’Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem.
