Salem - Glenn E. Schroeder, 62, of Salem, died Saturday morning at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Darlene (Hidler) Schroeder with whom he shared over 42 years of marriage.
Born in Portland, Maine, he was the son of Phyllis (Clark) Schroeder of Maine, and the late Bernard “Bunny” Schroeder. He was raised and educated in Maine, and has spent the last 40 years living on the North Shore in Peabody and Salem.
Glenn was employed for over 35 years as a machinist for General Electric in Lynn until his retired in 2010. He was a Hamm Radio operator, and loved the outdoors hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, but his favorite endeavor was spending time with his family, especially his 13 grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his four sons, Eric and his wife Colleen Schroeder of Maine, Adam and is wife Stacey Schroeder of Salem, Keith and his wife Kerri Schroeder of N.H., and Burton and his fiancée of Maine; his two daughters, Denise Schroeder and her fiancé of Lynn, and Megan and her husband Gabe Ferreras of Salem; his sister, Brenda Farrington and her husband Tony of Maine; his sister-in-law, Valerie Schroeder of Maine; and is also survived by his beloved 13 grandchildren, Eric, Hannah, Kayleigh, Kelly, Kelsie, Victoria, Paul, Alexa, Faith, Payton, Gage, Axel, and Baby F; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Bruce Schroeder.


Following cremation, visiting hours will be held on Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
