Gerald C. "Jerry"'s Story
Gerald C. “Jerry” Merson, 75, died Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in the Rose Monahan Hospice House, Worcester following an extended illness. He was the beloved husband of David J. Collins.
Born in Lynn on May 26, 1942, he was the son of the late Theodore T. and Frances B. (Sutherland) Merson. He had resided in Lynn and Cornish, Maine for many years before moving to Framingham in 1987. He had also served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Jerry was self-employed as a master electrician for Merson Electric for many years. He had also worked as an electrician at General Electric in Everett and for the M.W.R.A. before his retirement in 2002. He was a proud member of the National Rifle Assoc. and the Harbor Masters of Maine.
Jerry and David enjoyed traveling along with George T. Moose and loved spending time with family and friends. He had a great interest in Native American Heritage and Culture in the American Southwest.
In addition to his husband of 30 years, he is survived by two daughters, Sally Lavin of Roseville, CA and Michelle Merson of Lynn; several grandchildren, including Summer, Autumn and Skye Lavin; seven nieces and nephews, Frances Saunders, Maryanne Merson, Susan Drohan, Thomas Merson, Amy Murgida, Rachael Merson and Danielle Merson; several great-nieces and nephews and several cousins in Nova Scotia including, Bill Fleming and Becky Langille. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Harvey Theodore Merson and David Merson, two nieces, Ellen and Nancy Merson and two nephews, Charlie and Paul Merson.
His funeral service will be held on Monday, December 4th in North Beverly Cemetery, (Route 97), Beverly at 12 noon. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday in the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly from 1 to 3 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
