Francis's Story

Text size

MIDDLETON, MA - If you didn't know him during his 78 years then you missed out on someone very special in this life. He was known around Middleton as, dad, papa, friend, that funny kind caring man Frank or Mr. V, or the bread delivery man. But most affectionately he was known as "my loving husband" by his heartbroken wife of 56 years, Roberta Valeriani, and "dad" to his children, Laurie Kupreance, Teresa O'Brien and husband Tom, Francis Valeriani and wife Lisa, Vicki Millea and husband Joe, Dawn MacArthur and husband Bob and Scott Valeriani. To those who did not have the opportunity to experience his kindness, generosity, and nurturing selflessness, his name was Francis Thomas. He is survived by 16 grandchildren, Shawna, Kerri, Gary, Joey, Cody, Shawn, Timmy, Christopher, Tommy, Kelsey, Alexa, Nicole, Taylor, Kaylie, Cassie, Alyssa and four great-grandchildren, JD, Layla, Jason, and Breanna.
It was not in his plans to leave us so abruptly last Sunday morning, February 25. He would not want us to cry for him but rather take a moment to do a random act of kindness and think of him with a smile. He will be greatly missed.
Francis was born in Malden, grew up in Saugus, and graduated from Saugus High School before moving to Middleton to raise his family. In his later years, he worked part-time for Cunningham Engineering, always keeping them on their toes and making them laugh. His greatest achievements were fatherhood and love for his family. He had a love for food, cooking (mostly making a mess in the kitchen), camping and snowmobiling and most importantly spending time with his family.
He was the oldest of three children to the late Francis and Adeline (Burke) Valeriani. He is survived by his brother Neil Valeriani and wife Selena of Topsfield. He was the brother of the late Karen Piazzo and her surviving husband Jim; and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews
