Everett J. "Mac"'s Story

Everett J.“Mac” McGrane, 80, of Danvers, beloved husband of the late Ellen Dee “Lynne” (Callahan) McGrane, died at home on Tuesday, May 2, 2017.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late John P. and Mary (MaGuire) McGrane.
He was raised and educated in Salem. Mac was an honorably discharged veteran. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Reserves. He was also an active member of many local veterans’ organizations. He was employed as a machinist in the Aircraft Division of G.E. Riverworks until his retirement.
Mac had a fondness for Drum and Bugle Corps and had been a member of The Rockets, The Musketeers, and The Princemen. After his retirement he joined the Lt. Norman Prince Chorus. He also enjoyed the ocean, having owned boats from an early age. Mac was a lifetime member of the Palmer Cove Yacht Club and served four terms as their Commodore.
Mac came from a very large family. He was predeceased by six brothers, George, John “Phil”, Leonard, Robert, Richard, and William; three sisters, Margaret “Eileen, Louise, and Jean O’Donnell; his niece, Rosemary Leszczynski and his nephew, Kevin McGrane. He is survived by three sisters-in-law, Helen McGrane, Cecile McGrane, and Suzanne Rogers; 28 nieces and nephews: Carol Gillis, Joan O’Connor, Sandra Babiarz, Gail Markowicz, Thomas McGrane, Patricia Shofner, Maryellen Zocco, Barbara Faircloth, Leonard McGrane, Donald McGrane, Joanne Bogiages, Diane McGrane, Kenneth McGrane, Paula Geist, Mary McGrane, Michael McGrane, Linda McGrane, Kathy Brown, Karen Hodge, Kelly Tuttle, Martin McGrane, Matthew McGrane, Judith Horgan, Janet Jalbert, Susan April, Lynne Ricker, Michael Rogers, and Ellen Figueroa; special friend and relative, Paul Leszczynski and his faithful companion, Max.
Visiting hours for Everett will take place on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (corner of North St.) Salem, MA 01970. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday May 9, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Blvd. Salem, Mass.
