CONWAY, NH - Evelyn Marie (Brown) Fleming, 96, a lifelong resident of Danvers, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, surrounded by the love of family and carers in North Conway, N.H.
The oldest of 11 children, she was born on November 28, 1921, to Homer and Lois (Sweeney) Brown in Danvers. She was married to the late Richard V. Fleming for over 50 years, and they had two children, Richard K. Fleming of Freedom, N.H., and Betty Jane Woolley of Sanford, Fla.
Evelyn graduated from Danvers High School and worked for Sylvania in Danvers and later for Deerskin Trading Post until her retirement. In her retirement she worked as a nanny to several children in the area. In addition to work, she loved to bake, sew, quilt and crochet; and often donated her baked goods and handiwork to local charities for fundraisers.
Evelyn enjoyed the love of her tight-knit family. She is survived by her children, Richard and his wife, Cindy, Betty Jane and her husband, Robert; five grandchildren, Christopher Saindon, Michael and Jonathan Shea, Brenna Fleming Dubay, Megan Fleming; and four great-grandchildren; also by her sisters, Norma Brown, Jacqueline Getchell, Patricia Frohman, Susan Harrison, Paul Brown; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; sister, Betty Best; and brothers, Robert Brown, Earl Brown, Richard Brown, and Thomas Brown.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in memory Of Evelyn can be made to support the Danvers Senior Center, which was near and dear to her heart. Check should be made payable to the Town of Danvers and sent to the Danvers Council on Aging, 25 Stone Street, Danvers, MA 01923.
