Emmanuel "Manny"'s Story
Mr. Emmanuel “Manny” Kureta, 84, of Peabody, died on Sunday, September 10, 2017, at Beverly Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Barbara (Snow) Kureta, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.
Born in Albania, he was the son of Tasi and Niqe Kureta. In 1934, he came with his family to Lynn; he attended Lynn Schools and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, Class of 1951, where he excelled as an athlete in football and baseball. He has lived in Peabody for over 50 years.
Manny was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Navy from 1952 through 1956 as a Radar man second class.
Manny retired as a technician for Verizon in 1992 after working for 35 years for Verizon, and New England Telephone. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and watching the Red Sox. He loved the time that he spent with his grandson, Brian.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Susan Kureta and her fiancé, Donald Powers, Gary Kureta and his wife, Tracy, and Keith Kureta and his wife, Kelly, all of Beverly; his grandson, Brian Kureta of Salem; two sisters, Ruth Dylingowski and her husband, Richard of Newburyport, and Lilyan Savory and her husband, Doug of Lynn; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Ware of Bartlett, N.H.; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Helen Ware.
His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 12 p.m. in the Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
