Edmund John's Story
Edmund John Walsh, beloved husband, father, and grandfather died on August 10, 2017, at the age of 84 after a brief illness.
He leaves behind wife and love of his life, Marie Susan Walsh of Middleton; daughter, Margaret; and granddaughter, Kathleen of Round Rock, Texas; daughter, Mary Halfmann of Newmarket, N.H.; son, Matthew and wife, Carmen; and grandsons, Sean and Alex of Derby, Conn.; daughter-in-law, Diane; grandson, Michael and wife, Jennifer; and great-grandchildren, Maddison, Haley, and Dominic, all of Barnet, Vt. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Jan Walsh; nephews, John and Jim (and wife, Joan); nieces, Patty and Susan and their children. Ed was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Breen; brother, James Walshl and sons, Michael and Mark.
Ed was born in Worcester, Mass., on October 29, 1932. He attended Boston Latin High School and received a degree in economics from Harvard University in 1954, before serving in Germany where he met and married his wife.
Ed was a loving husband and father who will be remembered equally as a teacher and mentor, improvisational chef, master gardener, playful grandfather, and helpful neighbor. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and watching UConn Women’s basketball, Tour de France, NASCAR and Formula 1 racing, and German and English Soccer. His tomato plants, Saturday night pizzas, and holiday decorations were legendary.
He was a successful management consultant who built his own business from experience working with companies around the world, across multiple industries.
A celebration of Ed’s life will be scheduled in October. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Black Mambas female anti-poaching unit or your favorite charity.
