Earle W.'s Story

Earle W. Kelley, Jr., 77, of New Port Richey, Fla., previously of Beverly and Groveland, died peacefully on Thursday morning, September 14, at Gulf Regional Hospice in Zephyrhills, Fla. Born July 2, 1940, he was predeceased by his parents, Earle W. Kelley, Sr. and Mary Kelley; his brothers, Francis and David; and his sister, Maureen.

Prior to his retirement in 2004 he enjoyed a lengthy and successful career in the shoe industry as the National Sales Manager for Speen & Co., Colorifics in Woburn, as sole proprietor of Dickie Dale Stride Rite Shoes in Beverly, and as a sales associate for Florsheim Thayer-McNeil and Thom-McAn. In 1997 he was the proud recipient of a DEBI Award which recognizes Distinctive Excellence in the Bridal industry.

While a resident of Beverly he served as the President of the Centerville Improvement Society, Treasurer of the Beverly Lions Club, and was a Special Police Officer for Beverly Police Department. While a resident of Groveland he enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball and refereeing high school basketball games. A U.S. Army Veteran, he was an avid reader, loved playing cribbage and especially valued the time he spent with his many friends and family members.

He is survived by his sons, Scott of Hardwick, Mass., and Todd of Bluffton, S.C.; his daughter, Jill Lockey of Palm Harbor, Fla.; his granddaughters, Sarah Lockey of Clearwater, Fla., Hannah Lockey of Palm Harbor, Fla., and his grandson, Cameron Wattenbarger Keller of Boynton Beach, Fla. In addition he is survived by his brothers, Steve, Dan and Ron, and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside memorial service with Military Honors will be held at The Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Friday, October 13, at 1:30 p.m. Family members are invited to attend.
