Doris (Audette)'s Story

Mrs. Doris (Audette) Mello, 93, of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 3, 2017, in her home. She was the wife of Mr. Frank Mello. She was born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Desire and Delia (Marquis) Audette. She was raised in Fall River and attended schools there. She was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Class of 1943. She also attended secretarial and business school. She has lived in Lynn for many years and the past six years in Peabody.
Mrs. Mello was a 60-year member of the Lynn YMCA and enjoyed playing volleyball. Among her many activities she loved to ride her bicycle. She loved camping on Peter’s Pond in Sandwich and her winter month in Naples, Fla. She was always active and loved to do different projects. She built furniture, other woodworking projects, and enjoyed caning chairs. Her most important activity was being with her family for the holidays or just visiting with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband with whom she shared 64 years of marriage, she leaves a son, James F. Mello and his wife, Mary of North Andover; two daughters, Barbara L. Martins and her husband, Frank of Brockton, and Joyce D. Mello of Lynn; her grandchildren, Michaela, Mackenzie, and Madison Mello, Liane Watt and her husband, Philip, Evan and Veronica Martins; a great-grandson, Aidan Watt. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. She was the last of 10 siblings.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. from the Solimine Funeral Home, 67 Ocean Street (Route 1A), Lynn followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Lynn at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
