OWLS HEAD, ME - Donald Frost Hunt, 85, formerly of Salem, died Tuesday, November 28, at Sussman Hospice House in Rockport, Maine. Born and raised in Pittsfield, Mass., he was the son of the late George Pratt Hunt, Jr., and Reviola Kelsey Tillbrooke Hunt of Pittsfield. Don was a graduate of Northfield Mount Hermon School and Duke University and served two years in the U. S. Army.
Don lived in Salem for 40 years and was a licensed insurance broker and agent. He was a member of the Salem Conservation Commission and the Salem Planning Board and a parishioner of Grace Church in Salem. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Owls Head in 1999. Don leaves his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Bowen Smith Hunt; his son Jonathan Paul Hunt of Haverhill, MA and his fiancée, Ronda Peterson and her daughter Alyssa of Gloucester; his daughter Laura Patton Hunt of Owls Head; his former daughter-in-law, Elizabeth McCusker Hunt and her wife, Gina Frias of South Hamilton; five grandchildren, Joshua Hunt, Eleanor Hunt, both of South Hamilton, Jacob Chammas, Leila Chammas, Georgiana Chammas, all of Lowell and Owls Head; his sister-in-law, Lydia Kaeyer and her husband, Richard of Owls Head and Lakewood Ranch, Fla.; two nephews, Andrew Kaeyer and his wife, Jill of Marblehead, Erik Kaeyer and his wife, Gillian Kaeyer of Wilton, Conn.; four grandnieces; a grandnephew and numerous cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 11 White Street, Rockland, ME. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 11 White Street, Rockland, ME 04841; or Sussman House, 40 Anchor Drive, Rockport, ME 04856.
