MANCHESTER, NH - Mr. Dexter Elliot Tufts II, passed away quietly in his sleep on December 15, 2017, after a long illness at the Hackett Hill Nursing Home in Manchester, N.H., where he lived for almost 10 years. Dexter was born in Lynn, on January 26, 1955, to the late Blaine and Carolyn (Spofford) Tufts. He was raised in Peabody and was a 1973 graduate of Peabody High School. He was a Boy Scout Order of the Arrow.
Upon graduation he entered the US Air Force and served as a Jet mechanic. He was honorably discharged and then graduated East Coast Areo Tech and went to work for the General Electric Company in Lynn. At GE he was a jet engine assembler and tester.
Dexter had a love for old cars and motorcycles. He loved to watch football and talk politics. Dexter was a Life Member of the National Rifle Association. He was a longtime friend of Bill W. for over 40 years.
Dexter is survived by his two sons, Michael Tufts of the US Army, Ben Tufts and his wife, Erin of Manchester, N.H.; his sister, Susan Vaughn and her husband, Frank of Cedar Hills, Utah; and brother, Mark Tufts and his wife, Darlene of Marblehead. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at 10 a.m. in the Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn. Dexter will be laid to rest at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park with his parents. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
