Carolyn L. (Lodge)'s Story
Carolyn L. (Lodge) Rawson, age 87, of Beverly, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017, at Rosewood Nursing Home in West Peabody, Mass. Carolyn was born November 10, 1929, in Auburn, Maine. She was the daughter of the late Morris and Adeline (Crafts) Lodge. Carolyn was married to her high school sweetheart, the late Richard F. Rawson for 60 years, who predeceased her in 2011.
Carolyn graduated from Brunswick High School in Maine in 1947, before moving to Beverly in 1955. She worked at the Beverly Regional YMCA for 22 years before retiring in 1992 as Comptroller.
As a longtime resident of Ryal Side, she was an active member of Immanuel Congregational Church, serving on several boards and ministries, as well as being a church organist for 30 years.
She is survived by her sons, David and Steven; her daughters, Anne, Linda, Barbara, Carol, and Mary; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous “adopted” children and grandchildren, who loved her. Carolyn was also predeceased by her son, Alan, and her brother, Leroy.
Visitation will be at Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, MA, Tuesday, October 24, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. 0Her funeral service will be held at Immanuel Congregational Church, 140 Bridge Street, Beverly, MA, Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Carolyn’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
